As part of the celebrations of the 350th Anniversary of the granting of a Royal Charter to Falmouth, Truro and Falmouth MP Sarah Newton will be giving an illustrated talk charting the story of democracy in the town.
Mrs Newton’s illustrated talk, entitled “From Squirearchy to Digital Democracy - 350 years of Parliamentary representation in Falmouth”, will outline the story of parliamentary democracy in Falmouth, stretching from the aftermath of the Civil War, via bewigged country squires, be-whiskered Victorian magnates and the bitter struggle for parliamentary reform, to the fast changing political world of the present day.
The illustrated talk will be held from 8pm on Friday 14th October at the Falmouth Poly. Tickets cost £3 (includes glass of wine or soft drink) and can bought from the Poly booking office (01326 319 461) or bought on the door on the night. Proceeds will go to the Falmouth Festival Fund, which helps to pay for the town’s Christmas celebrations.
