Truro and Falmouth MP, Sarah Newton, has highlighted the ways in which households can save money on their heating bills this winter.
With one in five households in Cornwall spending more than 10 percent of their income on heating their homes (the UK measurement of fuel poverty), it is essential that people have access to as much information as possible which will help them to reduce their energy bills.
Sarah Newton MP said: “It is often difficult to find all the information that you need to save money on your heating bills. That’s why I have pulled together as much information as possible into one comprehensive document which explains the help that is available and the new developments that are being made in the energy sector.”
Mrs Newton continued: “One of the main problems for vulnerable households, and particularly the elderly, is that they are simply not aware of what help is available to them. I would therefore urge as many people as possible to read the help sheet that is on my website and use this information to help their friends, relatives and neighbours who may be struggling with heating costs this winter.”
