Bee Awareness Day at Enys House and Gardens, Penryn, on Saturday 20 and Sunday 22 August 11am to 5pm.
This year’s events are in aid of the Bumblebee Conservation Trust, Cornwall Wildlife Trust – Bee Kind Appeal, Bees Abroad, Bees for Development and Enys Gardens.
Throughout the weekend there will be a range of talks, demonstrations and workshops all about bees and beekeeping from experts in the field. For example, the Bee Farmers’ Association will discuss beekeeping as a career, the University of Exeter will be talking about studying bee colony survival, the Bumblebee Conservation Trust will highlight the plight of the bumblebee and the Cornwall Wildlife Trust will show the work being done through Cornwall to preserve bee habitat.
As well as talks, there will be many activities on offer. There will be a creativity area for children which will feature activities such as candle making while they may also dress up as a beekeeper.
Specially selected food and drink stalls will be available. Annie’s Kitchen Garden Café famous for delicious cake, will be open for sandwiches, cake and refreshments from 11am to 5pm.
