In Parliament this week, local MP Sarah Newton and Labour MP Jim Fitzpatrick launched the findings from the Fuelling Connections pilots in Truro and Falmouth, Popular and Limehouse and Doncaster.
Hubbub, a national charity led by Cornishman Trewin Restorick, enabled the three pilots to run for a year and presented its findings in Parliament. MPs from across the UK were invited to the launch and were provided with a pack of information so that they can set up Fuelling Connections in their constituencies.
In recognition of the success that the three pilots have demonstrated, all of Cornwall’s MPs have committed to running Fuelling Connections in their constituencies under a new Facebook page called “Fuelling Connections Cornwall”. This will enable the community-led campaign to provide help and advice to anyone living in Cornwall.

“I am delighted that all of Cornwall’s MPs have agreed to launch Fuelling Connections in their constituencies. I look forward to working with my Cornish colleagues in helping to make a continuing success of this useful community led project.
“Expanding this project is an excellent new way of letting people living on low incomes in Cornwall know about what they can do to stay warm and well. There are many people and organisations that are working hard to help local people with low incomes improve their lives. Fuelling Connections Cornwall Facebook page will be a useful communication tool to help connect people who would like some ideas and help with those who want to provide it.”
